Observation of the Evening

When feeling irrationally extreme anger towards someone, imagining irrationally extreme violence done to their person can be quite soothing.

Isn't it just? Whenever I'm having a rough day, I particularly like it.

heehee. It is indeed a very calming thing to do. and since you can't be arrested for any of things you imagine doing... ;-)

Exactly! And yet my brain goes "Aaaaaaaahhhh...." in satisfied tones, anyway. [grin]

Relaxation: guided meditation
Picture yourself in a field. The tall grass waves in the gentle, warm breeze, and sunlight warms the ground. You are shaded by the branches of a large tree, and you are soothed by the gentle sounds around you: the swishing grass, chirping birds, the breeze, the babbling of the small stream you are on the shore of.

You turn your attention to the stream. The water is cool and clear, and you can see right down to the bottom of the stream bed. Pebbles and mud are mixed together, tiny fish darting from shadow to shadow. Directly in front of you, you can see the face of the person you are holding under the water, only an inch or two from the surface. Their struggles have begun to weaken. You might let them up for another breath in a few more seconds. Maybe.... Or you might make them wait for another thirty seconds. The human body can survive without air for up to three minutes before you have to worry about causing permenant damage....
