On Conferences

The good news:

I just got accepted to present the fruits of my summer 2004 labor at a conference in Berlin in July. Interesting people will be there. Interesting things will be discussed. Yay.

The bad news:

1) I'm supposed to be teaching when the conference happens, so I'll need to try and switch to a different session in the summer. Grr. Stupid teaching schedule.
2) It's 200 euros for a student to register. WTF? Gack.

So once again, I am gripped by the question of whether to go. Something about me and summer conferences in German-speaking countries, tsk.

Go. It's Germany. Go. Speaking at conferences leads to goodness.

Do they not waive the fee for those who present? That's how my industry does it.

Congratulations!

Also, I miss Germany. Berlin is a wonderful city, but well-I haven't been since Reunification, so I shouldn't talk. ^_^ My vote: go. Regardless of cost; it'll make up for itself later.
