Really, though, I've noticed a tendency to not see many people this semester for any extended period of time. It's more a lack of free time than anything else, I think. Though, in some cases, it's a very, very good thing that I don't see people for extended periods of time. I'd be tempted to throttle them. While wearing titanium fingernail implants.
In other notes, I've been cooking this evening. Tomorrow's feast is in the works - a fruit compote with brown sugar topping and lots of cinnamon, a lemon chiffon. Tomorrow morning's work is green bean casserole, chopped liver, roasted potatoes, the infamous matzoh ball soup, and brisket.
It amazes me occasionally that I can cook when I want to. I tend to feel dysfunctional in the kitchen, as a general rule. I think I attribute cooking confidence to the presence of my Tres Cool Aunt - for with her, I am Ace Chef and she, my trusty Ace Chef Assistant! Moo ha ha!
Ooh, another thing - the artwork of Caspar David Friedrich. If you haven't seen it, do a google hunt and find an online gallery. He was a painter of the 1800s, Romantic style, based in Dresden. A paraphrase (among many) about his work - here is a man that found the tragedy of landscapes. The starkness and majesty present in every piece I saw was breath-taking.
I'm particularly fond of the seascapes and the cathedral.
Yark. I am a tired Owl.
